The farm tourism estate Cà Vecchia,
at the foot of Mount Ceva, is located between Battaglia Terme
and Montegrotto Terme, in the Euganei Hills Regional Park. The renovation
of the three cottages on the Cà Vecchia estate was completed
in spring 2004. The first floor of the farmhouse is divided into
two studio flats: one of them – called “Il Nocciolo”
(“The Hazel”) – consists of a room with a kitchenette
and a bathroom, the other one – “La Quercia”
(“The Oak”) – consists of a bedroom, a kitchen
and a bathroom. Both flats are equipped with fly screens on the
windows, a fireplace, air conditioning, a television, a DVD and
a VHS player.
The ground floor hosts the entrance for reception, the farm kitchen
and dining-room for eating together and for gathering round the
fireplace. The Herbarium of Mount Ceva is kept in the meeting
room on the first floor of the former barn, and the ground floor
is available for workshops and experiments. The turret is
an ideal observatory for animal watching. The restoration made
use of bio ecological architecture techniques: airy roofs, eco-friendly
natural lime plaster; and the plaster in the living-room is mixed
with straw from the farm’s organic plantations.
Central heating and sanitary water of the three units are taken
care of by a wood biomass boiler that allows reusing the waste
product after pruning the trees in the woods.On the roof, instead
of getting walled up, the top part of the chimney has been left
open in order to let small birds build their nests and shelter. A
stay at Cà Vecchia is especially recommended for visitors
who feel the need to plunge into the peace of the environing wood
and who would enjoy seeing the fallow deer which often come to
quench their thirst at the fountains next to the buildings, and
it would also please people who would like to be within short
distance of an extremely interesting historical and cultural tourist
centre.Even in the hottest summers the weather is temperate, thanks
to the “microclimate” due to the estate’s privileged
situation in a small valley.

From the A13
Bologna-Padova, exit Terme Euganee. The toll,
turn left and reach, after about mt. 500, the intersection
with State PD-RO. Turn left, proceed a few hundred yards
to the bridge at the Castle Catajo (structure on right).
Turn right on the bridge and immediately right again.
Ignore the right road that climbs the embankment and continue
until crossing the railroad tracks, put the arrow on the
left before crossing the tracks because you have to turn
left immediately after them. Continue straight ahead,
ignoring the first street on your right. After a turn,
avoid a lane on the left and continue uphill on the flat
path through the trees (note there is a creek on the right)
for more m. 200, until arriving at Cà Vecchia.
From Montegrotto, follow signs for Battaglia
Terme. Immediately before the level crossing street Catajo
turn right and follow the directions above. Access within
the property until you can type with trucks and school
buses to 35q.li; for heavier vehicles there is a rest
area beside the main road near the level crossing where
a road 500 m dirt road leads to the company. Bus: The bus stop is at 2800 meters by
the Company; agreement with the direction SITA (tel. +39
0498206830, +39 336577911) was possible to request a stop
directly in front of the Company. The line is the Padova-Battaglia.
