The Euganean Hills basin offers everything a tourist needs for a complete, healthy, relaxing holiday with many opportunities. Famous, modernised places to stay: Agriturismi (rural lodgings), B&Bs, apartments, hotels and spa hotels.
Tourism in Veneto is spread between the provinces of Belluno, Padua, Rovigo, Treviso, Venice, Vicenza and Verona; famous mountain peaks like Marmolada, Pale di San Martino, Tofane; the eastern slope of the Dolomites, the plateaus of the Grappa, and Asiago, the Lessini Mountains and the Pasubio; nature protected in the National Park of the Bellunesi Dolomites. Padua, with its basilica of S. Antonio decorated with precious bronzes by Donatello, who is also responsible for the monument of Gattamelata, a famous military commander of the Republic of Venice. The city with its 3000 years of history has inherited an abundance of historical and artistic monuments thus offering real thematic itineraries: Prato della Valle, the Botanical Gardens, Palazzo del Bò (university), Pedrocchi café, Palazzo della Ragione, the Scrovegni Chapel (with frescoes by Giotto). And more: the Church of Eremitani (Guariento - Mantegna), Carrarese Chapel (Guariento), Battistero Cathedral (Giusto de Menabuoi), the Bishops’ Palace (B. Montagna), Scoletta del Carmine (Campagnola and others).
Small villages and walled cities will make your holiday in Veneto even more enchanting: Monselice (with the walkway which overlooks the city, showing us the Castle, Old Cathedral and the Santuario delle Sette Chiese(Sanctuary of the Seven Churches)), Marostica (with the big chessboard in Piazza Castello where a game is played with living “chess pieces”), or Montagnana (with its surrounding extraordinary antique city walls, also famous for its excellent ham (prosciutto DOP Veneto Berico Euganeo); also Cittadella and Asolo, Bassano del Grappa (famous for its Alpine Bridge (il Ponte degli Alpini) as well as its "tagliatella" liqueur made from grappa); Arquà Petrarca, village on the Euganean Hills where we can visit the house of Petrarca. L'agriturismo in Veneto are typified by a rich and varied agriculture: on the plains are animals, in the hills olive trees (extra-virgin olive oil Denominazione d'Origine Protetta - DOP Veneto Colli Euganei, Monti Berici, Altopiano del Grappa), vineyards (22 wines Denominazione d'Origine Controllata - DOC and 3 Denominazione d'Origine Controllata e Garantita – DOCG). There are 19 products recognised as DOP and IGP (Protected Geographical Mark): as well as the renowned oil and ham, also rice, cured pork, cheese, fruit and vegetables, chestnuts. Veneto can also boast of having some of the most well-known Regional and National Parks of Italy: Parco Nazionale delle Dolomiti Bellunesi, Parco Regionale delle Dolomiti d'Ampezzo, Parco Regionale dei Colli Euganei, Parco Regionale del Fiume Sile, Parco Regionale del Delta del Po, Parco Regionale della Lessinia. |
